SEBASTYAN, Joseph Andrew Sebastyan
July 23, 1936 - October 10, 2025
With deep love and sadness, we announce the passing of Joseph Sebastyan, our beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, on October 10, 2025, at 11:42 p.m., surrounded by his family at home.
Known affectionately as Dad / Dziadzi, Joseph was a man of quiet strength, integrity, and devotion. Coming from humble beginnings, he built a life grounded in hard work, care for others, and deep love for his family. Whether walking his dogs with a garbage bag in hand to clean up the world around him, or ensuring his Christmas decorations were perfectly straight and secure, he approached life with precision, pride, and purpose.
His office was his domain — a place where wisdom was shared, lessons were learned, and character was shaped. Some of those lessons made sense right away, while others have taken years to fully understand — and many are still unraveling today. Whether delivered with a gentle word or a firm look, his guidance always came from love and the desire to see us grow. The time spent there became a lasting gift – memories and teachings that his children and grandchildren will carry for the rest of their lives. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 65 years, Wanda Sebastyan (Kuczynski), sister – Emily, brother – Marvin (Silvia), four children- Andrew, Stephen, Carolyn and Wanda (Richard), twelve grandchildren – Ryan, Elisa (Jeremy), Justin, Erica (Grehg), Cara (Daniel), Lucas (Thivea), Cameron, Amanda, Christopher (Ashley), Kaitlyn (Colin), Courtney and Jessica, and nine great-grandchildren – Morgan, Mia, Isaac, Lily, Arya, Stevie, Charlotte, Hayleigh and Madelynn — and counting — each carrying forward his strength, humour, and heart. Joseph’s impact was felt by every soul he encountered- from helping families immigrate and settle in Canada, being a pillar of joy in his communities, opening his home for rest and nutrition for those in need or just by being a safe space in a troubling world.
Joseph passed as he lived: with dignity, surrounded by love, wearing his wedding band and watch — symbols of a lifetime of devotion. The Lord called his faithful servant home to rest and as always, Joseph answered.
He will be missed deeply, loved endlessly, and remembered always. May his soul find eternal peace, and may he watch patiently over those who love him until they meet again.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated palliative care team, doctors, nurses, and personal support workers for their exceptional care, compassion, and kindness during this time. Your support and comfort meant so much to both Joseph and our family.
