Mildred Christena Jane Seibel

1923 – December 15, 2024

Mildred departed from this life to be present with the Lord at St. Mary’s General Hospital in Kitchener on December 15, 2024, at the age of 101. She was the only child of William McKenzie and Mabel Welsh, and was raised in Cambridge (Preston). Predeceased by her husband Donald Seibel (2017), Mildred was a loving mother to Glen Seibel.

Mildred began her teaching career in 1942 at a one-room school in Eramosa and continued teaching at several schools before concluding her career at Three Bridges Public School near St. Jacobs. She retired from full-time teaching in 1988 but continued volunteering there until the age of 80. An accomplished pianist, Mildred played for school concerts and retirement home services. She was also a dedicated member of Knox Waterloo Presbyterian Church for over 70 years, sending greeting cards to congregation members over age 80 and participating in church activities.

Mildred lived in her own home for 70 years until shortly after her 100th birthday. She later moved to Terrace on the Square in Waterloo, where she appreciated the compassionate support of the staff. The family extends their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and support staff at St. Mary’s General Hospital, as well as to Dr. Lubitz for years of dedicated care.

Visitation will take place at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 2:00–4:00 PM. Additional visitation will be held at Knox Waterloo Presbyterian Church, 50 Erb St. W, Waterloo, on Saturday, December 21, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM. A reception will follow the service in the church hall. Interment will take place at Woodland Cemetery.
