SHADDOCK, Catherine Ida Shaddock
February 5, 1935 - February 5, 2026
Passed away peacefully on February 5th, 2026, her 91st birthday, surrounded by the love and presence of her family. Born on February 5th, 1935, she lived a remarkable life defined by strength, grace, and a spirit far ahead of her time.
A woman who embraced education, independence, and personal expression long before it was common, she carried herself with elegance—fashionable, confident, and unmistakably herself. Her warmth, resilience, and deep capacity for love shaped every chapter of her life and every person fortunate enough to know her.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished grandmother, and a proud great‑grandmother. Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into each generation.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Ralph Shaddock, her son, Wayne Shaddock in 2020 and her daughter, Lori Kennedy (McGuire- Shaddock) in 2024. Catherine carried these losses with profound strength and grace. She leaves behind Wayne’s wife, Cindy, and Lori’s husband, Jeff, whose enduring love for their spouses remains an important part of Catherine’s story. For those who mourn her, there is comfort in imagining her reunited with Ralph, Wayne, and Lori, embraced once again by the family she cherished so deeply.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: Tara Jackson, Chad (Justine) Shaddock, Greg (Amy Lou) McGuire, Katie (Sean) Makins, Tabatha (Alvin) McNicol, Shawn (Jessica) Kennedy, and Samantha (Thomas) Wood, as well as her many great‑grandchildren who adored her. Catherine is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Barbara Parkinson, and is predeceased by Barbara’s husband, Dick. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Edna Hughes, whose guidance and love helped shape the woman she became.
She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters‑in‑law: Alma and Charles Thompson, Earl and Nellie Shaddock, Eric Scott, Sadie and Ron Luther, Alberta and Ralph Steeper, Norman, and Shirley Shaddock, as well as her son‑in‑law, Alvin McGuire. She is survived by her sister‑in‑law, Eileen Scott.
Her life was a testament to perseverance, compassion, and timeless style. She will be remembered not only for the life she lived, but for the light she brought into the world—one that will continue to shine through the family she loved so deeply.
May her memory be a blessing, and may her spirit continue to guide those who loved her.
The staff at Age Care Parkhill provided exceptional compassion and support during Catherine’s final months, and their dedication is deeply appreciated.
An intimate graveside service will take place on Wednesday, February 11, at 1pm in Parkhill Cemetery.
