SHEY, Jocelyne Gooh Shey

In birth, she fell as a star from the heavens. In death, she returns to the heavens where she will continue to shine her light on us, in the form of shared memories, until we meet again.”

Also known as “Yosa”, “Joyce” and “Amas”

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, mother, and daughter of Ayangah Margaret and Barnabas Shey. Jocelyne Gooh Shey, fondly known by many as Yosa, Joyce or Amas, went to be with the Lord on August 30, 2025 in Oshawa, Canada, at the age of 43.

Born in Yaoundé, Jocelyne lived a life of faith, strength, and generosity. She was known for her selfless and large-hearted nature, always willing to put others before herself. With her contagious smile and tough spirit, she inspired all who knew her to face life with courage and grace.

A true lover of books and reading, she found joy in learning and sharing wisdom. She also enjoyed “bricolage” fixing and creating things with her hands which reflected her resourcefulness and creativity. She always believed she could fix anything that’s broken or at least make a difference one way or the other.

She will be forever remembered as a devoted mother, a loving daughter, a cherished sister, and a faithful friend. Her legacy of kindness, resilience, and joy will continue to live in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.

Her legacy remains with her daughter Muyang Cynthia Shey, and she now rests in eternal peace with the Lord, reunited with her mother and sisters.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 12 – 1 p.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home (124 King St. E., Oshawa). A Memorial Service will follow in the Chapel at 1 p.m., followed by refreshments. Friends and loved ones are invited to join us in celebrating her remarkable life.
