SHIANG, Nancy Shiang

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Nancy Shiang on October 31, 2025 at the age of 76 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Beloved daughter of Joan and the late Peter Chanjack. Beloved wife and partner of Shing Shiang. Loving mother to Priscilla Knight (Sean) and Sandra Shiang and Peter Shiang (Lauren). Cherished Poh Poh (grandmother) to Lee, Travis, Marshall and Eleanore. Dear sister of Perry Chanjack, Karyn Chanjack (husband Jules Parsons) and Jason Chanjack. Beloved Aunt of Zoe (Martel), Amy (Michael) and Nathanial (Paula) and Great Aunt to Maya . Adored aunt to many more nieces and nephews all around the world. Treasured friend to Violet, Lambert, Betty, Diane and Pauline.

Nancy’s life was full of adventures as it began on the other side of the world in Harare (Salisbury), Zimbabwe. She met Shing in 1968, they married in 1971 and moved to Lourenço Marques (Maputo), Mozambique. After having 2 children (Priscilla and Sandra) they moved back to Harare and then eventually made their way to Lisbon, Portugal in 1978, leaving behind their families to make a better life for their own. In 1979, they made the decision to move again, all the way to Canada as Shing had a job opportunity with CMC Machinery Corporation, in Cambridge, Ontario. Here is where they welcomed their 3rd child Peter. Shortly after, in 1985, the family moved to Windsor. Nancy finally was where she would call home after moving halfway across the world. She was a dedicated wife, mother and doting grandmother. She made some great friends with neighbours and was like a second mom to a lot of her kids’ friends, including Melissa Weldon. She always made the home feel welcoming to everyone who visited. Nancy eventually went back to work and had a few careers with her latest in retail where she met some great friends as well. In 2022, our world changed with her original cancer diagnosis which she faced head on. She never complained and always remained positive. She fought through the side effects and came out strong on the other end. We were optimistic but her battle was not over as last July, we found out that it had spread to her lungs. She still tried to remain positive and faced this new challenge head on. This past year has been met with more challenges as it spread to her brain. A tumour was successfully removed in March. After radiation therapy and recovery a second tumour was discovered and this time deemed inoperable. While recovering from the second bout of radiation therapy she developed pneumonia . After the pneumonia cleared lesions were now found on her lungs leaving her at Met Hospital. She tried so hard to fight with all of her strength but came to the realization she was being called home.

Nancy loved doing puzzles, reading her romance novels especially her Barbara Cartland books, loved the Twilight, Lord of the Ring and Harry Potter series and so much more. She loved her sci-fi series like Star Trek and Dr Who. She shared her love of music of all genres, movies and musicals. She was an amazing cook and always made plenty to share.

Nancy will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Her love and wisdom continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Visitation will take place at the Windsor Chapel Funeral Home – South Chapel on Wednesday November 5 from 10:30am until time of service at 12:00 noon. Following the service a light luncheon will be held before we take Nancy on the final leg of her long and wonderous journey. A procession to Greenlawn Crematorium will leave the funeral home around 2:00pm, those who wish may join.
