CATES, Shirley Catherine Cates

CATES, Shirley Catherine (nee LEWIS)   – Died peacefully, on July 16, 2023, at Wesburn Manor, Toronto, at the age of 96.

She was predeceased in December, 2021, by her loving husband, Jack, to whom she was devoted for 72 years.

Loving mother of Nancy Cates and Robin Doherty (Bill).

Proud grandmother of Melissa Doherty and Allison Sundberg (Blake); and great-grandmother of Wills and Banks Sundberg.

Shirley was active in the community, canvassing for various charities, taking the census and working on elections. She even tried her hand at modelling in the Markland Wood fashion shows, along with Jack.

She loved playing in her afternoon bridge groups. Shirley and Jack were world travellers, visiting over 75 countries. This included two around-the-world airplane adventures and many cruises.

She will be missed.

Cremation has taken place. She and Jack will be interred at the Erie Cemetery in Wheatley, Ontario.
