SILVA , Maria De Fátima Pereira Da Silva
June 3, 1956 - August 20, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Maria De Fátima Pereira Da Silva, who entered into eternal rest on August 20, 2025, at the age of 69, surrounded by the love of her family.
Maria was born on June 3, 1956, in Alvites, Santiago da Ribeira de Alhariz, Portugal. She was the beloved daughter of Ondina De Fátima Pereira and the late Nicolau Medeiros of Portugal.
She was the proud and loving mother of Jerry DaSilva (Sonia), Paulo DaSilva, and Nicole Puckerin (Carlos). She was a devoted Avó to her treasured grandchildren Saint, Praise, and Noah.
As the eldest of her siblings, Maria was a constant source of knowledge and strength. She will be lovingly remembered by Jacinto Medeiros (Ana Maria), Arlindo Medeiros (Benicia), Elisabete Carneiro (Virgilio), and Fernando Medeiros (Nancy). She was cherished by her many nieces and nephews, and shared a lifelong bond with her dear aunt, Diamantina Medeiros.
Maria immigrated to Canada at age 19 in 1975. Her journey brought her through Chatham, Toronto, Alberta, and eventually back to Ontario. She worked tirelessly in restaurants, on farms, and in factories to support her family.
She met her beloved husband, Paulino DaSilva, at a company dance in Toronto. That meeting led to 47 years of marriage and eventually the founding of DaSilva & Sons Bakery in 1993. For 28 years, Maria served her community with warmth, dedication, and the unmistakable scent of fresh bread.
A woman of deep faith, Maria often listened to Portuguese Mass online while baking or during her evening routines. She loved animals, gardening, and bringing new life to old things with her nurturing hands and generous heart.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Blenheim Chatham-Kent Family Health Team, especially Dr. Faith Moore and Nurse Shantel Cardoso.
