SIMONEAU, Joseph Roger Augustene Simoneau
March 16, 1927 - December 9, 2025
It is with great love and sadnessΒ that we announce the loss of Roger Simoneau, who passed away on December 9, 2025, at the age of 98, after a brief illness resulting from a fall.
Left to hold him dear to their hearts are his son,Β Jim; grandchildren,Β Zeke, Kenzee, and Brady; nieces,Β Linda, Janice, Kathy, Joanne, and Sandy; and nephew,Β David. He now goes to join those who passed before him, including his wife,Β DoraΒ (d. 2020); brother,Β Leo; and sisters,Β Yvette and Dorothy.
Roger Simoneau was born on May 16, 1927, in Willowbunch, Saskatchewan, to his parents,Β the lateΒ Arthur and Leona Simoneau. From an early age, he developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors, a passion that would shape both his leisure and his lifeβs work. Roger loved golf and spent countless hours enjoying the landscapes of the Okanagan, where he also took great pleasure in hunting, fishing, and camping. His adventurous spirit extended beyond Canada, as he enjoyed memorable trips to Palm Springs, Mississippi, and Hawaii, always drawn to warm climates and time spent outdoors.
A hardworking and entrepreneurial man, Roger owned and operated A Simoneau and Son Plumbing and HeatingΒ a business that sold Hot Water Heating systems and light fixtures throughout British Columbia, from Kamloops to the Kootenays. His vision continued to grow over the years, and by 1977 he undertook the ambitious project of building Gallagherβs golf course on land formerly held by his father-in-law, Camillo. With the course completed in 1981, Roger set his sights on a new challenge and with his brother,Β Leo,Β began the development of a resort at Idabel Lake.
His life reflected a blend of determination, love for the outdoors, and a lasting commitment to building spaces for others to enjoy. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.
A Private Graveside service for family will be held in honour of Roger.
