Margaret Ann Skirda

August 14, 1954 – November 9, 2025

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Margaret “Marg” Skirda, 71 , November 2025 in Surrey, BC where she had lived for many years. Marg was born and raised in Copper Cliff, Ontario. She graduated from Copper Cliff High School in 1973 obtaining the prestigious Inco Scholarship. Upon graduating she moved to London Ontario where she was accepted into the BSc program at Western University. She graduated with an Honours Degree in Chemistry in 1977. Marg was then offered a position with the Civilian Branch of the RCMP as a forensic Specialist. She was considered an expert in her field and was required to provide expert testimony in many high-profile court cases. Her career spanned 35 years during which she criss-crossed Canada, working in Halifax, Ottawa, Edmonton and Vancouver.

Marg loved all animals and over the years enjoyed her Dogs and Cats which were great companions to her. She generously made donations to the BCSPCA to better the lives of all animals in need.

Marg was also an avid curler and would watch the “Scotties Tournament of Hearts” every year without fail.

Marg was a smart, kind, loyal, funny, generous and loving person.

Marg is predeceased by her parents, Bernice and Mike Skirda of Copper Cliff. She is survived by her sister Jane Scott (Doug) and brother Jim Skirda (Diane) as well as four nephews Kyle Scott (Sandra), Warren Scott (Sam), Graeme Scott (Carlos) , Evan Skirda and three nieces, Andrea Skirda (Richard), Sara Skirda (Chad) and Rusty Skirda (Elliot).
