SMITH, Betty Jean Smith

Betty Jean Smith passed away peacefully at Providence Care Hospital on December 2, 2025. She was predeceased by her beloved husband John David Smith and brother Gary Provost (Linda). Dear mother of three sons, David (Amy Gaskin) of Toronto, Ian of Kingston and Evan (Elizabeth Smith) of St. Catharines. Much loved Grandma of five granddaughters – Sarah, Shannon, Charlotte, Caroline and Violet.

Betty Jean was happiest at home especially if all three sons were also under the same roof. She enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, baking with her granddaughters and documenting everyone’s visits with many photographs. She continued to spend time with her school friends from Victoria School and KCVI at regular lunches over the years. They could rely on her great memory and would say, “Betty Jean will know” if they were trying to remember details about the past.

In keeping with Betty Jean’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

The family would like to thank Kingston General Hospital and Providence Care Hospital for their excellent care during Betty Jean’s final weeks.
