SMITH, John William Smith

He lived and loved deeply. He was devoted to his wife, June, was a loving father to Norm (Melissa) and a proud stepfather to Jeff (Arley), Jason (Lauri) and Jenna (Kirsten). Family meant a lot to John, and he cherished his relationship with each of his children.

One of John’s greatest joys was watching his grandchildren grow. He took quiet pride in each of them and their many accomplishments. John is also survived by his precious cousin, Bonnie, and many in-laws who he adored.

John was most proud of his life in Haliburton and his years as the owner of Beech View Cottages. His love for Beech Lake was constant, whether fishing in the summer or ice fishing in the winter. It was a place that always drew him back and remained deeply woven in who he was.

With deep gratitude for the care he received, donations in John’s memory may be made to the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation’s “We Care, We Can” campaign, supporting the redevelopment and expansion of Lakeridge Health Bowmanville Hospital.

In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be a celebration of his life in Haliburton at a later date.
