SMITH, Lois Dawne Smith

It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lois Dawne Smith, aged 78 on December 3, 2025. Lois was a kind, gentle, and compassionate soul whose warmth touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her generous heart, and the bright smile she carried with her wherever she went.
Born in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Lois cherished the city throughout her life. Thunder Bay remained a place of comfort and meaning for her; home rich with memories and deep connections. Whether she was reconnecting with family, reminiscing about her childhood, or simply enjoying the familiar sights, her visits there brought her peace, joy, and countless treasured moments.
A natural caregiver and exceptional listener, Lois spent her life offering comfort, understanding, and unconditional love to those around her. She displayed this love in her choice of professions, being a counsellor to women and children in need through the YWCA.
One of her most cherished routines was the morning β€œTimmy dates” she shared with her husband, Glen. Each day, the two could be found at Tim Hortons enjoying a warm cup of coffee together while playing word games on their phones. A simple tradition that filled their mornings with laughter and love. She also was a devoted member of All Saint’s Anglican Church in Whitby, where she sang in the choir and attended church on Sundays.
Lois found joy in life’s simple pleasures: reading, camping, visiting her family camp at Hawkeye lake, playing card games, and enjoying her computer games. She loved watching movies with her daughter Jennifer, and her enthusiasm brought delight to those around her. She also loved to travel, especially on her trip to Newfoundland with her daughter Tammie, which became some of her most treasured memories. Lois enjoyed going to see the Toronto Blue Jays play baseball with her daughter-in-law Jessica and with Tammie, creating special shared moments she held close to her heart. Christmas markets were another of her joys. She enjoyed the lights, music, and the festive spirit always filled her with joy. Her son Kelly’s homemade meals were a comfort, often bringing a grateful smile to her face.
Lois leaves behind her loving husband, Glen, her devoted daughter Jennifer, her caring son Kelly, and daughter-in-law Jessica. She cherished her siblings dearly. Her sister Diane and her brother David (wife Cheryl) each held special places in her heart. She also adored the family pets, Thor and Mittens, who brought her companionship and joy.
She is preceded by her beloved daughter Tammie, as well as her parents, Doris and Fred Ball, whom she loved dearly and spoke of often.
Lois’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and gentle strength. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her, and her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
May her memory be a blessing.
