SMITH, Marilyn Jean Smith

Marilyn Jean Smith passed away on June 28th, 2025, at the age of 92 after a brief stay at the Kingston General Hospital. She was born in Winnipeg and is the daughter of the late Louis and Wilhelmina Saunders.

Marilyn is predeceased by her husband Lloyd and her brothers Hank Saunders (late Bernice) of Trail, BC and Gord Saunders (late Beth) of Sault Ste. Marie. She is survived by her children Karen Fournier (late Wayne), Grant, and Craig (Sally), grandchildren Scott, Shaun, Kevin (Isabelle), and great-grandchild Aiden.

Also survived by her brother-in-law Barry Smith (late Eileen) of Winnipeg, Marilyn will be deeply missed by her many nieces and nephews across the country.

In 1966, Marilyn and Lloyd moved with their family to Ontario, settling first in Brockville and later at Charleston Lake. She began her career at City Hall, retiring in 1995 as the City Clerk. As Snowbirds, Marilyn and Lloyd enjoyed winters in Naples, Florida, and summers at the lake.

Marilyn was an original owner at the Deauville Lake Club in Naples, where she was very active in organizing theatre events and social activities including shuffleboard, Mahjong, sewing groups, pool time, and early morning walks.

A private graveside service will be held in Brockville at Oakland Cemetery in late July. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice are appreciated.
