SNIDER, Stephen Franklin Snider
March 30, 1949 - September 12, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce Stephen Franklin Snider passed away peacefully on Friday September 12, 2025 at the age of 76. Stephen maintained his kindness, wonderful sense of humour and love of family and friends during his final days.
Steve was predeceased by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Alexandra, his parents Sid and Lynn Snider, in-laws Sam and Marija Rajkovic and brother-in-law Douglas Rajkovic.
Steve will be deeply missed by his sister Sharon Fortier (Rian) and their children Bruce Fortier and Julie Scott (James). He is lovingly remembered by his sisters-in-law βAggieβ Barbara Vinande, with children Sonja and Nikolas Rajkovic and Diane Rajkovic, with children Christian and Lauren. Survived by several great nieces and nephews. Steve also leaves behind a circle of dear friends who were like extended family to him: Raymond and Margaret Guillet, Alba Elliott (the late Herman), his goddaughter Alyssa Gelinas (Jeff), Jim Askin (the late Lesley), Dick and Ann Lawrence and their son Scott, as well as Sloane Fitzgerald and Greg Thurston. Steve was well loved and will be deeply missed by his family, close neighbours and many friends.
Steve had a profound love for music that began as a young child and continued throughout his life. He was a member of the Forster Collegiate Band and formed several musical groups of his own, including LeRoy and the Sytations which led to him meeting the love of his life, Alexandra Rajkovic. Steve studied music at the University of Windsor and went on to teach music for much of his career. As an educator, he went on to become a Principal and Superintendent with the Greater Essex County District School Board. For many years, Steve was the director and organist of the St. Maryβs Church Choir.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at Families First, 1065 Lauzon Road, East Windsor, on Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Maryβs Anglican Church (Walkerville), 1983 St. Maryβs Gate, Windsor, Ontario on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 11:00 am. Interment to follow immediately in the churchyard.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Maryβs Church. Funds will be designated to a memorial fund in memory of Stephen and Alexandra.
