SNOWDEN, Richard Bransby Snowden

A lifelong resident of Oshawa, Ontario, born on November 25, 1937, Richard leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and community service.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Doreen Mary Elizabeth Minnis. He was the loving father to Jodi (Chris White) and John (Lori MacMaster), and proud grandfather of Melanie, Matthew, Lindsay, and Mitchell. Brother to Merelyn Mallet (predeceased by Don) and brother-in-law to Murray Minnis (Joanne).

Predeceased by his parents, Ron and Inez Snowden (née Cook) and stepmother, Elizabeth Boynton.

Richard retired from Durham College in 1999 after a rewarding career that spanned several years. He worked as an administrator and was actively involved in helping to grow and support the college’s athletics program. His contributions to both areas reflected his steady commitment to the college community and to the development of student life beyond the classroom.

He will be deeply missed by his extended family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm with words of remembrance being shared at 4:00pm at the Oshawa Funeral Home, located at 847 King Street West, Oshawa, Ontario, L1J 2L4.

In lieu of flowers, the family are kindly asking for donations to either Gate 3:16 outreach or the Northview Adult Day Program.
