SONIER, Joseph Donald Sonier

It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Joseph Donald Sonier on January 19, 2026 at the age of 90, peacefully at home. Beloved husband of wife Claudette Sonier (Lajoie) for 68 years. Loving father of Glenn and wife Nancy, Monique and husband Paul Brown, Paul and wife Tina, and Nicole and husband Sandro DiBona. Loving grandfather to 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Donald worked for 36 years at Fiberglas Canada and then 38 years at St. Thomas Aquinas Church as caretaker with his wife Claudette. Donald was proud of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed every moment he spent with them. He devoted many years to helping and serving in his church. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 895 Champlain Rd., Sarnia, on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers and or condolences, the family is encouraging that Mass Intentions be donated for Donald through the Sarnia Bluewater Roman Catholic Family of Parishes (sarniacatholic.ca/giving).
