SOOSAIPILLAI, Anne Grace Soosaipillai

Passed away peacefully at home in Mississauga, Ontario.

She was born on April 11, 1928, in Penang, Malaya. Anne Grace spent her early years in Penang and later in Kuala Lumpur until 1946. During the Japanese occupation, her father passed away, after which the family returned to Ilavalai, Sri Lanka.

In 1947, she married Mr. Swampillai Soosaipillai, who served as a dedicated teacher at St. Henry’s College until his untimely death in November 1967.

Anne Grace emigrated to Canada in October 1987 and made Mississauga, Ontario, her home. She was a woman of deep faith and devotion, and her strong religious beliefs guided every aspect of her life. Both in Sri Lanka and in Canada, she was a deeply motherly figure to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Though small in stature, she was strong in will. She was the person family turned to in times of sorrow or uncertainty, offering comfort, reassurance, and a remarkable sense of safety. She constantly prayed for her family, entrusting each loved one to God with unwavering faith. She lived a life of selfless service, always giving whatever she could, whenever she could.  She was known for her warm laughter, good sense of humor, and her profound love for her family.

She is survived by Dr. Xavier Emmanuel, Gerard Jesuthasan, Renard Mariathasan, and Jeyamalar Bastiampillai, along with many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews who will cherish her memory.

Viewing will take place on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., at St. John’s Dixie Cemetery & Crematorium, 737 Dundas St. E., Mississauga, Ontario, L4Y 2B5.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 24 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Francis Xavier Church, 5650 Mavis Rd., Mississauga, Ontario, L5V 2R4.

Burial will follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery & Funeral Home, 6933 Tomken Rd., Mississauga, Ontario, L5T 1N4.
