SOUTHWIND, Thomas Dejay Southwind

Beloved husband to Jessica Southwind (Mailloux) and proud father to Jaylyn, Jase, June and Jessi. Son of Sandra and Wayne Southwind of Sagamok Anishnawbek. Brother to Rheal Eshkakogan (Candace), Dawn (John), Rose, Allan (Alana) and Mason. And many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Dejay was an avid fisherman and hunter, he found peace and joy in the outdoors. Dejay had a dedicated and committed career in the mining and construction industry. Dejay married the love of his life and his best friend, Jessica. Together they created their beautiful family; the heart of his world.

Dejay loved taking his wife, children and parents out in the boat on the big water (Lake Huron). Watching the sun set from his deck was one of his favourite things to do. Dejay has many miles and memories on the Tote Road, with his family and friends.

From the age of 18, he worked in the mining industry. He was known for his strong work ethic and steady leadership. Six years ago, Dejay brought his skills home to serve his community as Operations Manager for Z’gamok Construction. He took great pride in contributing to local growth and development.

Dejay will be remembered for his big heart, giving the shirt off his back, his profound love for family and friends, his oversized bonfires, and his love for country western music. His presence filled a room with warmth, laughter and a good time. He will be deeply missed by everyone who was lucky enough to have known him.

A celebration of life will be held at 210 Meredith St. Massey, ON Greg and Cindy Gibson’s lot, on Friday October 17 at 1pm.
