SPENCE, Lorraine Sherry Spence

Lorraine Sherry Spence, passed away suddenly due to health complications on the morning of May 22, 2025, 2 months before her 63rd birthday. Predeceased by husband Joe Overholser in 2007, Lorraine came back home to Canada to be closer to family with the love and support of her partner, Kent Elliott in 2014 and lived in Belle Ewart, south of Barrie. Lorraine worked in civilian data entry for the OPP in Orillia.

Lorraine is fondly remembered and loved by her father, Roger Spence of Cannington, ON and her angel mother, Sherry Spence who passed in 2023. Lorraine was the eldest sibling of Leo (Shirley), Barry (Marty) and Darlene (Gord).

Lorraine was brought up on the harmonies and friendships of Bluegrass music which took her to the US for a length of time. Many of her friends have some connection to Bluegrass and the Spence family band, Acoustical Strings. She loved playing and singing with Dad and Barry, with many family and friends singing along, both on stage and at every family function.

Lorraine will be fondly remembered by friends and family on both sides of the border for her kind heart and her generosity towards others, generous to a fault as family often told her. She showed her love willingly and openly to friends and family, gift giving and surprises for others were her specialty. Crafting, especially quilting, allowed Lorraine’s creative talents to shine and many of her nieces and nephews have been blessed with a handcrafted quilt from Aunt Lorraine.

According to Lorraine’s wishes, she will be cremated with a celebration of life to occur on a future date with lots of music, friends, and family. If so desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Arthritis Society would be appreciated. Online condolences are welcome at www.manganfuneralhome.com
