With love and sadness, we announce the passing of our dear mother, Catharina (Rina) Koens, who passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the age of 86. Rina was born on December 30, 1938, in Duivendrecht, Netherlands.

She leaves behind her children John, Lillian (Randy), and Denise (David), her daughter-in-law Sonia, and her beloved grandchildren Jason, Robert, Tabitha, Dean, Alex, Saskia, and great-granddaughter Gianna.

Rina lived a life of gratitude, humility, and deep devotion to her faith. Her greatest joys were her family, her faithful dog Wally, and her flourishing gardens. She especially treasured her great-granddaughter Gianna Catharina, who brought her so much happiness.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church (715 Centre Rd., Waterdown) on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., with a reception to follow.

In keeping with Rina’s love of flowers, floral tributes are warmly welcomed. For those who wish, memorial contributions to World Vision would also be sincerely appreciated by the family.
