With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Rafael “Rafko” Srebrnic on February 25, 2025,
at the age of 97, at his home in Toronto. Rafael was predeceased by his beloved wife, Theresa, in 1998.
He leaves behind his loving daughters Maria (Gary) and Patricia (Tom), and his cherished grandchildren
Regan, Kevyn, Angus, and Hamish. Rafael is survived by his sister, Mercedes, and many nieces, nephews,
neighbors, and friends in Canada, Slovenia, and Italy.
Born in Medana, Slovenia, on April 4, 1927, Rafael emigrated to Canada in the early 1950s.
He became a devoted parishioner at Marija Pomagaj Slovenian Church,
where he met his beloved wife, Theresa.
Rafael worked as a barber, mastering his craft with remarkable precision.
A dedicated walker, he continued his daily walks to his church even at 97 years old.
Above all, Rafael was a devout Catholic, serving God and his church throughout his life.
Recognized by the Catholic Register as the oldest altar boy at 96,
he was also a longtime member of the Maria Pomagaj choir.

Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, Toronto
(1 block East of Jane subway).
Funeral Mass:
Friday, March 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Help of Christians Church (Maria Pomagaj),
611 Manning Ave, Toronto.
Interment:
Holy Cross Cemetery.
