Cherished by her husband, Lorne J Steckley, her children: Susan, Karl (Kathryn Zook), Eugene (Constanze Sandner), Kathy (Samuel Troyer) and Jamie (Diana Lindsay). So very loved by her grandchildren, Laura Allen, Jon Steckley, Jefferson Steckley and Lisa Steckley, Julius Steckley and Elliott Steckley, Gregory Troyer, Beth Martin, Tommy Troyer, David Troyer and Joel Troyer, Hannah Steckley and Adeline Steckley, her 12 great-grandchildren as well as her sisters, Norma (Mervin) Kuepfer and Laurene Pentelbury, and sister in law Jean (Frank) Erb.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Samuel N and Katie (Gerber) Jantzi, her brother Ervin Jantzi, her grandson, Jefferson Steckley, and her brother in law, Mervin Kuepfer.

Mary experienced Jesus’ shelter in her childhood and loved and worshipped Him wholeheartedly all of her days, especially in the final weeks of her life. She was born June 4,1939 in Wellesley, Ontario. She and Lorne were married on July 31,1958 and resided in the Milverton area except for 8 years in Parry Sound, Ontario. Many years of her labors included foster care, home health care, hosting bed and breakfast guests, creating countless afghans, wall hangings, quilts and other crafts. She aptly supported her husband in ministry and loved her children and their offspring with delight.

Her family wishes to honor each of the caregivers and volunteers of the Stratford Rotary Hospice who cared for her, and us so well.

Relatives and friends will be received at the Donegal Mennonite Fellowship, 7021 Perth County Rd 147, Listowel, on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 3 – 5 & 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Zion Mennonite Cemetery.
