
Barrie passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from pancreatic cancer. Barrie was comforted watching the sunrise from his room at the Ottawa General Hospital, with his adored wife Brenda (née Vincent) by his side.
Barrie was predeceased by his beloved wife, George Briggs, and his brothers Ray and John (Freda). He is survived by his stepsons, Shane Trimble (Noella) and Mark Trimble (Shannon Gutoskie), grandchildren, James, Katelyn, Madison, and Nicholas, as well as his nephew, Trevor Stewart (Michelle Wassenaar).
Barrie was a proud Canadian and embraced the opportunity to sing our national anthem. He was a man of strength, dedication, and love for his community, including his contributions as Chair of the Waba Cottage Museum in White Lake. Barrie was also a lover of history, the outdoors, and travel.
Family and friends will be received at the Pilon Family Funeral Home in Arnprior on Saturday, June 14th from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., with a tribute to Barrie at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow.
Barrie will then be laid to rest at the Horton Cemetery.
In his memory, donations can be made to the Arnprior Regional Health Foundation or the Day Surgery Oncology Unit at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital.
