SWEENEY, John Allen Sweeney

Passed away peacefully at Northumberland Hills Hospital on December 29, 2025 with his wife of 43.5 years Barbara by his side.

John was born on January 5, 1950 to Jett and Joe Sweeney in the Toronto Area.

John took pride and had true success as his nature for carig for people became his profession as a counsellor and psychotherapist a the Renaissance Addiction Centre in Brooklyn. John’s unwavering passion for his career was a true testament to his true character.

John loved adventure, travel, and having a true long love of having and riding motorcycles as well as enjoying the quality of a nice sports car. John’s bright personality often was shown through his impeccable fashion sense. Always recognized by the caps he would wear each one of them matched perfectly to his brightness and that days attire.

John is survived by his wife Barbara Sweney, their beloved dog Frankie, his step-son Scott Bellamy. John is also survived by his grandchildren Rachel, Courtney. Ryan (Jessica and 8 great grandchildren.

John is survived by his sister Joanne Avison, his sister and brother in-law Norma, and Keith Smith as well as many neices, nephews, relatives and friends.

John’s charisma and humor will be deeply missed. His zest for life, his family, and friends will be forever etched into the hearts onto the hearts of those he loved.
