MAHONEY, Tammy Sue (Lane) – Peacefully, with her husband by her side, on October 3, 2015 at the age of 44.
Loving wife and best friend of Brent for 19 years. Super mom of Liam, Kylee and Henlee. Cherished daughter of William and Barbara Lane. Dear sister of Deborah Retherford (Eric). She will be missed by her nieces Autumn and Abigail.
Tammy is survived by mother and father-in-law Bernard and Eleanor Mahoney. Also survived by her brother-in-law Trevor and his daughter Hannah.
She will be dearly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in both Canada and the U.S. Predeceased by her paternal and maternal grandparents.
Tammy was born in Akron, Ohio and raised in Munroe Falls.
She graduated from Stow High School and attended Kent State University on an athletic scholarship for gymnastics, where she graduated with B.A. in psychology and a Master’s Degree in education, specializing in community counselling
, where she met her husband Brent. Tammy worked in the counselling field for many years until dedicating her life to raising her three children, tirelessly shuttling them between school activities and hockey.
With her sense of humour and a smile on her face, Tammy was never shy in expressing her opinion. She made an incredible impact on many people’s lives in her 44 years, as shown by the outpouring messages of love and support from current and past friends. Tammy was very strong and courageous, even in the last hours of her life never giving up hope about surviving for her children and family.
Tammy is resting at Morse & Son Funeral Home, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls, Ontario where her family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 7th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, 3882 Main Street, Chippawa on Thursday morning, October 8th at 11:00. Cremation to follow. A celebration of life will also be held in Ohio at a later date to be announced.
