THUSS, Gary Peter John Gus Thuss

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gary “Gus” Peter John Thuss on November 8, 2025, at the age of 60.

Gus was the beloved husband of Louise Thuss, with whom he shared 38 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories—especially their trips to Sarnia for bridge fries and boat watching, a simple joy they treasured.

He was a devoted father to Matthew Thuss, Brittany and Jordan Veens, and Haley and Dave Lacey, and a proud Opa to Cameron, who brought him endless joy. Gus’s love for his family was unwavering; he was the proudest dad, always ready to lend a hand, share a laugh, or go for a drive just to spend time together.

Gus is survived by his mother Elsa Thuss, and siblings Roseanne (John) Ballast, Lyle Thuss, Ron (Jody) Thuss, and Jason (Heidi) Thuss. He was predeceased by his father Henry Thuss. He will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends.

A true handyman, Gus had a gift for fixing anything and everything. He loved to tinker, to ride, and most of all to drive – whether it was trucks, snowmobiles, or motorcycles. He could back up any trailer, no matter the size with ease and precision. His passion for the open road was matched only by his love for those riding alongside him.

Gus’s legacy is one of kindness, skill, and deep devotion to his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A visitation will take place on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Denning’s of Watford. A Funeral Service will be held at the East Lambton Community Centre in Watford on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a private family interment at Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery. Guests are invited to remain at the ELCC for a reception and luncheon, catered by Denning’s, until 4:00 p.m.
