TOWE, Barbara Lee  –

January 13, 1938 – June 9, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Lee (Thoburn) Towe, loving wife of Duncan.

Barbara passed away peacefully, at her home in The Village of Erin Meadows.

Barbara was the daughter of the late Evelyn (née Randall) and Norman Polson. Mother of Michael (Shauna), Lisa (Chris), Glenn (Cathy), Marvin (Krista), Allison (Gabby), and Colin (Elaine).

Adoring grandmother to Christopher, Shea, Dale (Amy), Madeline, Brooklyn, and Keira; and great-grandmother to Sylvie.

She was the sister of Carolyn (John), Norman (Kathy), and Gordon (Luci); and Auntie Barb to many. She will be dearly missed by neighbours and friends.

Barbara’s career began at the Toronto Star, after which she transitioned to various positions at the Toronto Board of Education.

She eventually ascended to the role of Executive Director of Women in Leadership. In her retirement, she enjoyed gardening and entertaining at her home in Markham.

Friends may call at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, 8911 Woodbine Avenue, Markham, on Wednesday, June 12th, from 7-9 p.m.  A Funeral Service will occur in the Chapel on Friday, June 14th, from 10-11 a.m. with a Reception to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Toronto Star Santa Clause Fund
