With heavy hearts, the family announces that Joe passed away peacefully at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital just before sunrise on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Joseph Reginald “Joe” Townley, a lifelong resident of Arnprior was 82 years of age. Beloved husband of Helen (nee Deveaux). Loved father of Greg Townley and Scott Townley (Cathy Laventure). Cherished and proud Grandpa of Cassandra “Cassie” Rathgaber (Devon) and Nina MacArthur (Chris) and Great-Grandpa of Emmerson, Rorie and Izabella, Madison, MacKenzie and Mason. Dear brother of Jacqueline Bertrand (late Ed), Joan Neill (late Milton), William “Dick” Townley (Carolyn), John Townley (Judy) and Donna Charbonneau (late Oscar). Special brother-in-law of Yvonne Arscott (Eddie), Irene Eastman (Doug) and Bernie Deveaux (Beth). Predeceased by his parents: Reginald and Martha (nee Rechenberg) Townley; a sister, Rose Popkie (late Howard) and 2 brothers: Bruce Townley and Ron Townley (late Karen). Also survived and lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, loyal longtime customers and many friends.

Joe was born into a large family where a solid work ethic was a natural way of life. He developed a keen interest in hockey and in his younger days he devoted a great deal of time to coaching different levels of hockey in Arnprior. Joe was a proud market gardener for many years of his life. He established and operated a vibrant Fruit and Vegetable Stand on the Home Hardware property in Arnprior. His unwavering commitment to providing only the finest produce allowed him to build an excellent reputation far beyond the town boundaries. Joe was a classic salesman who delivered entertaining and incredible customer service. He enjoyed being around people. His pleasant demeanor will be remembered by the many customers he served over the years. Many a great family meal began with homegrown ingredients from Joe’s. In Winter, Joe would spend countless hours at the stand helping clients and families find just the right Christmas Tree. He leaves a legacy of kindness and generosity. He will be missed.

Final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the

Pilon Family Funeral Home in Arnprior where visitation will be held on

Sunday afternoon, October 19th from 12 to 2:45 p.m.

A Service to honour and remember Joe will take place in the

Pilon Family Chapel at 3 o’clock. The service will be webcast live for those unable to attend.
