After a journey with cancer, passed away peacefully into the arms of Our Lord on Thursday, October 2nd, surrounded by her family. She is deeply mourned by David, her beloved husband of 52 years; her ten children and their spouses: Colin and Cristine (McQuaid), Kevin and Renee (Garbin), Anthony and Dana (Gillespie), Siobhan and Patrick (Kerr), Fiona and Deirdre (Tozer-Hayes), Roisin and Ryan (Gaunt), Simon, Mairead and Aaron (Lindsay), Sinead and Sahand (Dabbaghi), Brighid and Adam (Carriere); and her 29 cherished grandchildren: Patrick, Sylvia, Abigale, Isabelle, Chiara, Alexander, Adelaide, Quinn, Ronan, Eamon, Eithne, Foila, Cole, Seeley, Odin, Isla, Ada, Abel, Scarlette, Mackenzie, Freya, Aurora, Olwynn, Edith, Iris, Fergus, Eleanor, Alice, and Avalon; her younger sister Mary (Clarke Johnson, Ailish, Brendan, and Aidan); and brother-in-law John Tozer. Loved by many cousins in Canada, Ireland (her birthplace) and abroad. She is predeceased by her parents Brendan Kevin Geoghegan and Mary Esther (Kane).

Brenda was a proud wife, mother, and homemaker, an RN (Hamilton General grad), a La Leche League leader, a Lactation consultant, a Retirement Home Executive Director, an ORCA surveyor, a passionate proponent of the Catholic faith, a supporter of the poor, a soprano, an entrepreneur, a gifted seamstress, a dancer, an artist, a loyal friend, a Star Trek fan, a Harley Davidson enthusiast, and a very dear grandmother. We sincerely thank the staff of Norfolk General Hospital ward 4B for helping to make mom more comfortable in her final days. Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, October 14th at St Patrick’s Church, 440 King St. E., Hamilton, at 10am. Mass will be livestreamed. The immediate family will proceed to a private inurnment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, while guests can proceed directly to a Celebration of Life reception at St. Augustine’s Church Hall, 58 Sydenham St, Dundas, from 11:30-6pm.
