TROUTNER, Don Troutner
November 26, 1940 - February 16, 2026Son of Floyd and Velda (Strickland) Troutner, was born November 26, 1940 in Lenora, Kansas. He passed away peacefully at Hospice Waterloo Region on Monday, February 16, 2026 at the age of 85 years. Beloved husband and best friend of Gwen (Hasenpflug) Troutner of St. Jacobs. Loving father of Kim (Maurice) Griffin and cherished grandfather of Mikalya Griffin all of Tennessee. Also survived by stepson James Campbell, stepdaughter Mary McFarland, siblings Jon Troutner, Charlie Troutner, Michelle Hatfield, Steve Bradford, Jacqueline Sue Cunningham, Sherry Ann Ritz, mother-in-law Mary Hasenpflug, brother-in-law Bill (Debbie) Hasenpflug and sisters-in-law Lynn (Gord) Perrin, Karen (Al) Deutscher and Bobbi (Eric) Dickkut. Lovingly remembered and will be greatly missed by his friend, Ken Metzger as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families. Predeceased by his parents, sister Karen (Roger) Schearer, brother Patrick Carpenter and brother-in-law Bob Hasenpflug.
Don was raised in Johnson County, Kansas then moved to Gardena, California where he lived for 35 years. He met Gwen in 2001, then made the move to Waterloo, Ontario in 2003 and they were married November 29, 2003. Don loved animals, fishing and gardening. He enjoyed making scroll saw crafts and learned to play guitar when he was 65.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. A special thank you to CarePartners, Waterloo, Hospice Waterloo Region, and Dr. Dawn Yew for the care and compassion shown to Don. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Pet Patrol, Elmira, or Hobo Haven Rescue, St. Jacobs would be appreciated, and may be made through the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira.
