TYLER, Norma Joan Tyler

Passed away peacefully in her 91st year at the F.J. Davey Home in Sault Ste. Marie, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.  She is survived by her soulmate Michael Tyler, married for 44 years. She was the caring mother of Craig Zimmerman and Todd Zimmerman (Nancy).  Grandmum will be sadly missed by her four grandchildren Kyle (Lynsay), Ryan (Beth), Scott (Michelle), and Evan (Jaime) and her ten great grandchildren.

She was born in Cheadle Hulme, England to parents Harry Healey and Hilda Healey (Navin) both predeceased.  They immigrated to Canada in her teenage years, and she lived in Hamilton, Ancaster, Stokes Bay, and Lions Head before moving to Sault Ste. Marie.

Norma will be dearly missed by her family, lifelong friends (Roberta) and her cousins Helen (Frank), Judy, Susan, and Richard (Donna) and their extended families.

Norma worked at the McMaster University Medical Center as an Executive Assistant until her retirement at age 63. Shortly after, they moved to Tamarack Island (Stokes Bay) in the Bruce Peninsula to enjoy retirement.

She was a free spirit who loved to travel and was drawn to the Southwestern and South American cultures. You could see her dancing to the songs of Jimmy Buffet and Harry Belafonte even in her later years.  She loved felines having numerous cats as pets over the years.  She lived by her own rules and had an infectious smile and bubbly personality which warmed people to adore her.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Lions Head Hospital and the F.J. Davey Home, Apple Orchard Wing for the great care when she broke her hip and was dealing with her dementia before succumbing to complications of Influenza ‘A’.

In accordance with her wishes, her life will be honoured privately. Memorial donations to the Owen Sound Animal Shelter (OSAS) (https://www.owensoundanimalshelter.com/programs) would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, Sault Ste. Marie, ON, P6B 0B6, 705-945-7758).
