VANGASSEN, Patricia Anne VanGassen

Passed away peacefully on August 21 at
Chatham-Kent Health Alliance surrounded by her loved ones.

Patricia (Pat) was born on May 13, 1944 in Chatham to Harold and Marie Rush (Murphy). She
attended school in Chatham and moved to London after finishing high school where she worked
a number of years for London Life before returning to Chatham.

She worked as a bookkeeper at a number of local car dealerships including Jack Carroll Pontiac-Buick and Terry Linton Chev-
Olds.

Pat is predeceased by her parents Harold and Marie Rush (Murphy), older sister Mary Merritt
(Clayton) of St. Clair Beach, and her former husband Edgard VanGassen of Chatham.

Pat will be deeply missed by her son Shawn VanGassen and his partner Kim, brothers Joe Rush (Mary
Beth), John Rush (Lyn), niece Meredith Gobert (Rush) and her family of Chatham, niece Keri
Rush and her family of Windsor, and nephew Chris Rush of Toronto.

Pat is also survived by her son Chris O’Mara (Lori) and their children, as well as several great nieces and nephews.
Thanks to the staff of In-Patient Surgery and Complex Continuing Care at CKHA for their care
and compassion.

Cremation has taken place.

Friends and relatives may visit at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. S.
Chatham from 10:00am-12:00pm on Friday, August 29, 2025. Prayers at 12 noon followed by
internment at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
