VANKERKHOVEN, Janice Theresa VanKerkhoven

It is with deeply saddened hearts that the family of Janice VanKerkhoven announce her peaceful passing on March 5, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospice, at the age of 64. Loving mother of Shauna (Nathan Marshall) and Amy (Zachary Sereda) VanKerkhoven. Beloved wife of Barry Pauwels. Cherished daughter of the late George and Helen Vynckier. Treasured sister of Jim (Cindy), Gary (Darlene) and Rick (Shelley) Vynckier and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Janice will be missed by Barry’s children; Jenn (Josh) VanCaille, Sheena (Darren) Heuvelmans, Kayla (Tim) Vynckier; grandchildren Kinsley, Beckham, Wyatt, Nixon, Lawson, Lennox, Monroe, Stratton and Miller. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Brooks, who was always by her side. Janice found great comfort in the presence of her family and friends. She enjoyed hosting her annual Labour Day golf tournament with friends, bowling with the girls, many memorable games of euchre, and evenings around backyard bonfires. Janice’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and volunteers at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Dr. Crombeen and Erica from Bayshore for their kind and compassionate care. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Janice’s life will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
