VELLIS, Angela De Vellis

October 14, 1955 - February 13, 2026

With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Angela De Vellis in Toronto on February 13, 2026 at the age of 70. She leaves behind her partner of 30 years, Paulo Silva and his children Jaime and Ashley. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Diana, Sandra (Chris) and David (Izabel). Beloved Nonna (grandmother) of Brenna and Daniel Skinner, Ezra and Isaiah Augusto, and Daniel and Arielle Sanchez-Da Costa. Angela will be dearly missed by her extended family and friends, especially her sister Rita, brothers (Guido and Silvano) and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Angela came to Canada from Italy in the late 1960’s/early 1970s. She was very proud of having spent 30 years working for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). She loved tending to her garden and flowers. She loved her cats, music and dancing, and watching figure skating during the Olympics. She loved spending time with her partner Paulo. They travelled every year together to hot and sunny places, because she also loved tanning and Zumba on the beach! She also loved cooking and hosting her family for special occasions. She always made sure to cook everyone’s favourites, and showing off her latest gluten free dessert creations. Her greatest joy was playing with her grandchildren, especially her newest granddaughter, Arielle. Each of her grandchildren held a special place in her heart.

A little known fact: Not everyone knew that Angela could speak and understand many languages: Italian, English, Portuguese and Spanish. She surprised many strangers on the bus when she was able to understand their conversations! She found that to be very amusing.

Angela enjoyed living life to the fullest. She was a free spirit and she loved making people laugh.

She will be missed more than words can express.

Relatives and friends are welcome to Bernardo Funeral Home (2960 Dufferin St., south of Lawrence Ave. W.) for visitation on Monday, February 16, 2026 from 2 – 6 PM and Tuesday, February 17, 2026 from 10 – 11 AM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church (811 Lawrence Ave. W., at Dufferin St.) on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 12:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Angela’s memory may be made to the Celiac Disease Foundation, or the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the Canadian Transplant Foundation.
