VILLALTA, Virginia Villalta

March 3, 1925 - December 25, 2025
VILLALTA, Virginia Villalta

Surrounded by the love of her heartbroken family, Virginia entered Eternal Life on Christmas Day, the same sacred day on which her beloved mother passed 50 years ago.

Virginia was predeceased by her devoted husband, Giuseppe (1992), with whom she shared 41 years of marriage and raised five children. She was also predeceased by her adored son, Loris, who was called to Heaven in 2018. She was a devoted and proud mother to Marilena, Loris and Carol, Deanna and Roger Fantuz, Pietro and Giselle, and Lissa and Matthew Scholl. As a doting Nonna, she delighted in her grandchildren—Justin (Michaela), Andrew (Jaiyde), Ryan (Lauren), Alexander, Noah, Edward, and Nathalia—always amazed by their stories and inspired by the spirit of their youth. This year, she was blessed to celebrate two family weddings and to become a bisnonna to her cherished great-grandson, Blake.

Virginia was born on March 3, 1925, in Azzano Decimo, Italy, to Luigi and Antonia Facca. She was the last surviving child of their ten children and was predeceased by her siblings: Maria (Ivo) Mascarin, Luigia Facca, Pierina (Frank) Rossit, Antonietta (Narciso) Villalta, Giovanni (Maria) Facca, Zefferino, Olivo, Agostino, and Antonio. She was a beloved sister-in-law to the late Dino Villalta (AnneMarie) of France and to Sergio (Rosemary) Villalta of Thunder Bay. She is mourned by many relatives in Italy, France, and Canada, and was a special Zia to Teresa and Rolando Catenacci.

Virginia immigrated to Canada in 1952 to reunite with her spouse after a year of being apart. A woman of many talents, she mastered sewing under the tutelage of her older sister, Luigia, creating everything with remarkable excellence and creativity. Cooking and baking were heartfelt expressions of her love and hospitality, enjoyed by all who gathered at her table. Blessed with a green thumb, Mamma cultivated beautiful geraniums, roses, peonies, and hydrangeas, and her garden was filled with the fragrant scents of sage, rosemary, and basil.

This year, we celebrated Virginia’s 100th birthday, surrounded by love, joy, and deep gratitude for the gift of her life. Though our sharp-witted matriarch has left us, she will be profoundly missed and will live in our hearts forever.

The Villalta Family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Joseph Datillo, Dr. Tyceer Abouhassan, and Dr. Sarah Hanik for their continuous care and support over the years. A special thank you to the staff of Bayshore and St. Elizabeth for the compassionate team of caregivers who regularly visited and helped care for our mother.

Riposa in pace, cara Mamma e Nonna. Il tuo amore vive per sempre nei nostri cuori.
