VILLAVECER, Nena Villavecer
February 26, 1940 - October 27, 2025
After almost 30 years apart, Nena Villavecer peacefully left this world to joyfully reunite with her dear husband, Remus.
Born February 26th, 1940 in Valladolid, Negros Occidental, Philippines to parents Jose and Consolacion Galoyo. Nena was the youngest sibling to brothers Ricardo, Ernesto, Rodolfo and sister Julieta.
In the summer of 1968, Nena married Remus Villavecer, the great love of her life. They welcomed their two sons, Rene and Remus Jr, before immigrating to Canada in 1974. Two years after their arrival, they completed their family and welcomed their youngest daughter, Grace.
Nena raised her family alongside other Filipino immigrants in Windsor, ensuring her children fostered a deep sense of community and cultural identity. Her home on Darlington Crescent hosted numerous family gatherings, complete with delicious meals, laughter and fond memories. Her work at Marentette Rest Home not only gave her a great sense of pride, but also lifelong friendships with Zenaida Sufficiencia and Lilia Celis. Together with Felisa Galoyo and Cora Vinluan, she leaves behind a dear group of friends who will miss her deeply.
Nena is survived by her loving sons, Rene (Maria) and Remus Jr (Carolyn) and dearest daughter, Grace. Her beloved grandchildren, Coren (Aaron), Kobi, Kade, Talisa and Arianna will miss her warm hugs more than words can say. Nena’s memory will be cherished by countless cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She will be remembered as a woman of fierce love, kindness, generosity and faith.
