VISSER, Marinus Visser

Passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Hillsdale Terrace, Oshawa.

On July 14, 1956, Marinus married Meta, and together they raised four children: Ben (Terri), Peter (Melanie), Mike (Melanie), and Karin (Rob). After Meta’s passing, he married Cora on May 1, 1987, lovingly welcoming her three children into his life: Deb (Wayne), Ron (Suzette), and the late Fred. Cora predeceased him in 2022.

Marinus was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was Opa to Jeremy (Bridget), Benjamin (Katie), Kaitlin (Mike), Joshua (Jasmin), Skylar, Mariekka, Ryan, Candice (Martin), Meghan (Matthew), Jocelyn (Evan), Olivia, Cameron, Kurtis, Christopher,

Jasmine (Jordan), Teija (Harrison), Callum (Taylor), Rory (Danelle), and Holden (Justine).

He was Great-Opa to Sage, Riley, Luke, Charlotte, Wyatt, Summer, Jacob, Olivia, Elliot, Benjamin, Walter, Louis, Levi, Joel, and Frederick.

He was a brother to the late Jan (late Alie) Visser and the late Dina (Andy) Schuitema and a brother-in-law to Edna (late Peter) Buma, the late Jan (late Flossie) Bolhuis, Jennie (late Andrew) Mast, and the late Irene (late Wayne) McMillan.

Marinus retired from the Durham Region as a Maintenance Supervisor, where he was respected for his dedication, skill, and strong work ethic.

A man of deep faith, Marinus lived his life following the Lord’s will. Known for his kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering willingness to help others, he cherished life’s simple and meaningful moments. His legacy of warmth, integrity, and devotion to God and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation: Northcutt Elliot, 53 Division St., Bowmanville, December 10, 7–9 p.m.

Burial Service: Groveside Cemetery, 5155 Baldwin St S, Whitby (family and close friends) at 11 a.m.

Celebration of Life: Durham Christian Homes 200 Glenhill Dr S, Whitby, at 2 p.m followed by a light reception.
