VLAJKOV, Mary Milanka Vlajkov

With full hearts for a life well lived we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother Mary Milanka, on December 24th, 2025. Reunited with her dear husband Michael Omar (1998) and son Steve (2001). Daughter to Pera and Velinka Markov, and brother Robert (dec.). Loved by her children Steve (dec.), Donna (George) Gagnon, Jimmy (Cheryl), and Perry (Lisa). A fun Baba and Great-Baba to André and Paula Gagnon (Nyah), Aaron and Marisa Gagnon (Chloe and Gemma), Alexis and Nick Cooper (Theodore and Louis), Michael, Evan and Alexander Vlajkov. Milanka was the last surviving member to Panta and Danica Vlajkov and family. Forever cherished memories and traditions following our Greek Orthodox faith. An Aunt and friend to many.
Leaving Westmount, Quebec, she gave up her high heels for running shoes to marry her love in Hamilton at the age of 18. Dad and Mom worked hard together side by side. Mom will be remembered for her “free” spirit. She loved life and everyone who knew her as Little Mary, and Mrs. V, can attest to happy times in her company. We were privileged as children with caring parents. Our Mom travelled miles for our love for sports, especially hockey and baseball to far away places as our #1 cheerleader stopping at every mall along the way. Her love for travelling are too many to mention.

With joy and tears we bid farewell to our Mom. May the gates with loved ones greet you with strumming of mandolins, dancing the Kolo and a cheer of Slivo. Quietly we will rest our mother with our family members and will visit her loved hometown of Montreal. In lieu of flowers, donations to McMaster Children’s Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
