VOORBERG, Truus Voorberg

She was born in Naaldwijk, The Netherlands, on November 7, 1933, the youngest of six children with five brothers. She grew up during the hardships of World War II and the difficult years that followed. In the early 1950s, she immigrated to Canada with her family in search of a better life.
Truus spent most of her years on the Hamilton Mountain, with a brief time at Shalom Manor later in life. She was a founding member of Mount Hamilton Christian Reformed Church and, in 1953, she and Simon were the first couple to be married there. Together, they shared 65½ years of marriage and were blessed with four sons—Sam, Al, Dennis, and Richard—along with 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way.

Quiet and steadfast, Truus devoted herself to raising her family, managing the household, and nurturing a life of faith and service to the Lord. She and Simon created cherished memories through summer camping trips and winter getaways to Myrtle Beach or Florida, adventures they continued well into their 80s. Additionally they were able to see the world on various cruises and trips to Europe and Indonesia.
We are deeply thankful for the many years we had with Mom and for the foundation of faith and hard work she and Dad instilled in us. Today, we rejoice that she is reunited with our father and with her Heavenly Father for eternity. We will miss her dearly, and though she didn’t often say it aloud, we know how deeply she loved us all.: The Funeral Service will be livestreamed.
