VOORT, Carla van’t Voort

A long-time resident of Wallaceburg and Chatham, Carla passed away peacefully in Iona Station, at home with family by her side on January 15, 2026 at the age of 88.

Born in Sneek, the Netherlands, Carla was the daughter of the late Klaas and Grietje “Margaret” Zuidema. The Zuidema family immigrated to Canada in July 1951. Married in August 1958, Carla is now reunited with loving husband of 52 years, Arie “Harry” van’t Voort (predeceased January 2010).

Loving mother to Jim (Joanne) van’t Voort, Maggi (Jerry Easton) van’t Voort, Valerie (Peder) Nielsen and Heather (John) Tamse.

Proud Oma to Daniel, Brian, Michael, Laurie, Stephen, Christine, Philip, Martin, Elizabeth, Liam, Paul, and Lisa; Great Oma to Cohen, Lucas, James, Jack, Simon, Logan, Frederick, Hudson, Elliott, Sadie, Lianna, Foster, Erik and Briana.

Sister to Harry (Marg), Nick (Dianne), Henry (Cathy) and best friend and sister Jean Noordam.

Carla will also be missed by so many others: nieces, nephews, honourary children and grandchildren, her church community, and her Elm Street friends. She will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to God and family, her kind and loving heart, her delightful sense of humour, and of course her hummingbirds.

Family to receive friends on Sunday January 18, 2026 at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Visitation will also be held on Monday January 19 at 10:00 am, preceding the Funeral Service at 11:00 am at Living Hope Free Reformed Church, 159 Gregory Dr, East, Chatham, ON. Burial to take place at Riverview Cemetery in Wallaceburg.
