With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Riccardo (Rick) Vottero on May 10th, 2025. Though born and raised in LaSalle, QC, Rick lived a full and adventurous life that reached far beyond the borders of his hometown — one defined by curiosity, humour, generosity, and an unwavering dedication to the people in his life.

Rick was a devoted and loving father to his two children, Ryan and Alyssa, who were the light of his life and remain his proudest legacy. He is remembered with love by his sister Bonita & niece Olivia, his father Lou & stepmother Patricia, and former spouse and dear friend Tessa, along with many friends, colleagues, and extended family around the world whose lives were brighter because of him.

An Acadia University alum, Rick was a pioneer in the early days of the fintech industry. As a BASE24 developer, he built a distinguished international career, working in Sweden, Ireland, Croatia, Malta, Slovakia, England, Poland, Montenegro, Canada, and the U.S. His accomplishments were numerous, and his technical skills were matched by his gift for connecting with people across cultures.

Rick was a passionate Arsenal FC supporter, a lover of golf, and someone who relished good company — often with a cigar or drink in hand. Known for his wit, warmth, and generous spirit, Rick offered his time, wisdom, and love freely. His kindness and support touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.
