VOULTSOS, Haralambos Voultsos

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Harry Voultsos, who left us peacefully on October 23, 2025, at the age of 84, surrounded by his loving family, with his daughter Georgina by his side until his final moment.

Harry is survived by his wife of 17 years, Mary; children Monique, Margarita, and Georgina (Norbert); grandchildren Jasmin, Aurel, Mason, and Mila; and siblings Alexandra and Angeliki. He now goes to join those who passed before him, including his son Spyro and siblings Georgia, Spiro, Paraskevi, Stelios, and Zoe.

Harry was born on April 10, 1941, in Kalipado, Zakynthos, Greece, to parents Yiannis and Athina Voultsos. One of eight siblings, Harry grew up in a close-knit family, shaped by hard work, humour, and deep-rooted Greek traditions.

As obligated as a young man, Harry served in the Greek army, where he also obtained his helicopter license. Though he was expected to serve a full year, his adventurous spirit led him to Switzerland, where he began a new chapter of his life. During his short time there, he met a woman and, much later, discovered he had his firstborn daughter, Monique, whom he only met many years later in 2016, but welcomed her into the family with open arms.

Harry eventually made his way to Canada, where he poured his passion and determination into building a successful career as a restaurateur. Over the course of his life, he owned and operated numerous restaurants, often managing multiple at once — each one serving a wide variety of foods, but he was best known for his traditional Greek food and his infamous Caesar salad.

He met his first wife, Lorraine, who was a waitress at his restaurant. They fell in love and had three beautiful children, Spyro, Margarita, and Georgina. Harry designed and helped build their family home on an impressive 50-acre lot.

Though work kept him busy, Harry valued family above all else. His rare moments of free time were spent cooking, laughing, and sharing meals with those he loved. Known for his serious demeanour and his sharp, mischievous sense of humour, Harry could fill a room with both warmth and wit.

After the end of his first marriage, Harry returned to Zakynthos, where he found comfort among family and later met Mary. The two married in 2008 after moving back to Canada, where they bought a pizza house in a small town, which Harry affectionately called “big town Omemee.”

When he eventually retired, Harry sold his last restaurant and began dividing his time between Zakynthos and Canada, cherishing visits with his children and newly born grandchildren. His retirement was filled with simple joys — cooking, visiting loved ones, and swimming daily in the Mediterranean Sea, something he cherished deeply.

When Harry’s health began to decline in Greece, his daughter Margarita moved to Zakynthos to be with him and spend meaningful time together. One of his greatest wishes was to see his grandchildren once more, and with great strength and the help of his daughters, he made the journey back to Kelowna, where he spent his final two months surrounded by Georgina, Norbert, Mason, and Mila.

During his journey home, he made one last stop in Zurich, Switzerland, to spend a special night with Monique, Jasmin, and Aurel — a moment that brought his life full circle.

Harry will be remembered for his strong will, his unwavering love for family, his humour, and his endless stories of Greece. His legacy lives on through the recipes he passed down, the laughter he inspired, and the family who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

Family and friends will each honour him in their own ways. A small ceremony was held in Kelowna with his immediate family, and an additional ceremony will be held in Zakynthos
