WAKELAM , Phillip Charles “Chuck” Wakelam

With a heavy heart I announce the passing of my dad unexpectedly on August 20, 2025 at home. He was survived by his daughter Tracey (Corey Gemmill) and his grandchildren Tori and Andy (Sarah). He is preceded by his wife Ethel (Sim), his parents Ernie and Bessie Wakelam, his brother Allan, and his sister Phyllis (Mullen). He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Thank you to Kathryn and Kyle, the wonderful PSW’s who were my right hand. Thank you to Amanda and Patty Dawson, his special friend. Dad loved the outdoors. He went into the bush at 17 and never looked back. He ran the mill in Davidson, Quebec for 41 years and then came down to run the lumber division at EB Eddy Forest Products in Ottawa. He loved curling but his passion was golf. Like he said many times, he was born on a golf course (9th hole of the Mackellar) and died on a golf course, the 15th at Rivendell.

My dad was fiercely independent and some would say stubborn but also had a very big heart. His spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. Dad loved nothing better than to have visitors and chat or give a couple of golf lessons. He loved when the grandkids kept him on his toes and kept him young. You are missed beyond belief.

My dad did not want a wake or funeral. A private family burial will take place at a later date. For those who want to make a donation, he loved animals.
