Mary Elizabeth Joan Walden (Nicholls) “Elizabeth”
Elizabeth Walden, 88, of Thedford, passed away on June 19, 2025. Devoted wife of Philip Walden for 57 years. Proud mother of Andrea (Kevin) Peters, Deryck (Maria) Walden, and Tanya (Albert) Schoeley. Nana to Matthew, and Vanessa Peters; Natalie, Victoria, Grace, Anna, and Sarah Walden; and Sophia, Arianna, and Isabella Schoeley. Cherished sister-in-law of Eric and Karen Walden. Predeceased by her parents Russell and Violet Nicholls, brother and sister-in-law Bill and Doreen Nicholls, and her sister Joy Nicholls. She will be missed by her nieces and nephew.

Elizabeth grew up in Kirkfield, Ont. After graduating from high school, Elizabeth worked as a secretary in Peterborough and eventually moved to London, Ont. where she worked at 3M Canada as secretary to the director of marketing research. In 1965 Elizabeth commenced classes at U.W.O. and graduated in 1968 (BA in History/English) from Huron College. She then acquired her teacher’s accreditation and taught secondary school for a number of years at L.C.C.V.I. in Petrolia before retiring to raise her family.

Elizabeth was a life member of the Thedford United Church. Throughout her life, Elizabeth enjoyed singing in both church and community choirs. She loved travelling and instilled in her children and grandchildren a love of travel, music, and education.

Elizabeth’s family is grateful to the staff of Watford Quality Care for the kindness they showed her during the final months of her life.

A visitation will take place on Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 2:00–4:00 p.m. at DENNING’S OF FOREST. A funeral service will take place on Monday, June 23rd, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Thedford United Church. Interment to follow at Pinehill Cemetery.
