WELLMAN, Gary Michael Wellman

Gary Michael Wellman, born May 10, 1953, in Windsor, Ontario, passed away on July 3, 2025, at the age of 72 after a short and difficult battle with pancreatic cancer, leaving behind a legacy defined by his ethos of work hard, play hard, love hard.

Gary was the beloved husband of Carmelina Wellman (née Timperio), his soulmate and partner for 48 years. Together they built a life rooted in love and adventure while raising three children: Angela (Mark Kwiecinski), Robert, and Steve (Nicole Francisco), and cherishing their grandchildren, Anders and Audrey.

He is also survived by his brother Rick Wellmann (Roberta), brother-in-law Enzo Timperio (Lisa), and several nieces and nephews. Son of German immigrants Michael and Elizabeth Wellmann (née Petz), and son-in-law of Dominic and Maria Timperio (née Graziano), Gary embodied the values of hard work and perseverance from an early age.

A graduate of the University of Windsor law school, Gary was called to the bar in 1977 and enjoyed a distinguished career in corporate law. As a founding partner at Wellman, Bonn & Wilkki, and later during 25+ years at Kirwin Partners Law Firm, he earned deep respect for his intellect, work ethic, and dedication.

Gary approached life with the same energy he brought to his legal career. He loved cars, boats, travel, and adventure, instilling the same passion in his children. In retirement, he enjoyed life between Amherstburg, Ontario, and Fort Myers, Florida—spending time with friends and family, walking the boardwalk with Carmelina, and reading voraciously.

Gary’s life was an inspiration to live fully and gratefully. His legacy of determination, generosity, and love will continue in the lives of those who knew him.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation: Sunday, July 13, 2025, from 2–4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. at Families First – South Windsor (3260 Dougall Ave, Windsor).
