WELLS, Alan Percy Wells
March 20, 1940 - September 5, 2025
Survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Anne (Baulch). Loved and respected father of Alan Scott (Greg), Douglas (Patricia), Stephanie (Fred), David (Kate) and Beth (Joel). Adored grandfather of Zoe, Daniel, Tessa, Ruby, Henry, Maggie, Olivia, Mary and Aili. Son of Percy and Pearl (Lean) Wells. Predeceased by siblings Gordon, Jean, Jack (Jackie), Margaret (Chris), Isobel (Jack) and Fred. Survived by his sister Eleanor Douglas (late George), as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends. His beloved black lab, Dixie, remained by his side throughout.
Alan was proud of his east end Toronto roots. He was a graduate of Danforth Tech; Ryerson – Business Administration; The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario; and York University – Bachelor of Administrative Studies. Alan’s career accomplishments included being Chief Administrative Officer for the Regional Municipality of York, Chair of Rouge Park Alliance, consultancy work for municipal and provincial governments, and Councillor, Township of Uxbridge, 1977-1980.
Alan was a dedicated environmentalist, Blue Jays fan, and fishing enthusiast. He was an engaged supporter of Uxbridge Baseball, Uxbridge Fall Fair, Oak Ridge Moraine Land Trust and community Christmas events; also a member of the Glenmajor Angling Club; founding member, North Durham Nature; board member, Friends’ Meeting House Uxbridge; and member, Ontario Woodlot Association.
Friends and family were the centre of Alan’s life and he cherished holiday gatherings, growing pumpkins and Christmas trees, time at the cottage, and making maple syrup.
Visitation will be held at the Low and Low Funeral Home,23 Main Street S., Uxbridge (905-852-3073) on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 5p.m. to 8p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 12,2025 at 11a.m. with visitation for 1 hour prior. Immediately following the service a reception will be held.
