WHITE, Freda Ruth White

December 9, 1937 - February 5, 2026
WHITE, Freda Ruth White

She at Brockville General Hospital on Thursday February 5, 2026 in her 88th year.  Freda was the daughter of the late Edwin Erastus Warren and the former Margel Agnes McKay.

Beloved wife of the late Wilbert (Web) White.  Loving mother of Alan (Rhonda) of Lansdowne, David (Michele) of Lansdowne and Andy (Julie) of Lansdowne. Dear Grandmother of                 Haylee (Troy) of Forfar and Drew (Jaime) of Brockville.  Special Great-Grandmother of Lacey.  Beloved sister to George Warren (Bette), Glenn Warren (Trudy), and the late Ada Hare (Edward), and the late Ronald Warren (Marg).

Survived by many loving nieces and nephews and friends.

Freda graduated Teachers College and then went on to teach at the area schools for several years.  As a retired teacher and business woman, Freda has touched many lives.  She was a member of several organizations and has contributed to all of them:  the 1000 Islands Lioness Club; the Lansdowne United Church; Lansdowne Agricultural Society; Lansdowne Association for Revitalization; Leeds and Thousand Island Historical Society; the Retired Teachers Association and the Women’s Institute.

Freda loved the village of Lansdowne.  She was always interested in the management of the township and county.  In the late 70’s, our area was in need of a Community Building, Freda worked extremely hard with the committee to achieve the goal of getting the building built. A plaque was unveiled on May 30th, 1980 in dedication to the Committee’s commitment, perseverance and resourcefulness.  Freda was also nominated for The Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship in 2016.

She has served as a role model to generations of area residents who saw the difference she had made in their lives and those of their family, friends and neighbours.

Perhaps Freda’s most important contribution, however, was that she was a loving mother and great friend to so many.
