WHITEHEAD, Benjamin Thomas Whitehead
February 16, 1933 - January 22, 2026
Passed away peacefully at the age of 92. Ben was a man of quiet joys and steady presence. While he was never one to demand the center of attention, he was always where the life was. He loved the atmosphere of a good party and could often be found on the dance floor, moving to the music and enjoying the company of long-time friends.
Ben is now reunited with his late wife, Virginia (Louise), his son David, his stepson John, his great-grandson Cameron and his siblings Donald, Robert, Harvey, Billy, and Diane. He leaves behind his partner and dear companion Annette, his stepchildren Evelyn, Mary, Jenny, and Greg, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, as well as his siblings Leo and Kathleen.
A special place in Ben’s heart was held for Nicole and Steven. Their presence at his side during his final years was a source of great peace for Ben.
A dedicated member of the Essex and Kent Cage Bird Society, Ben spent years raising birds, appreciating their song and delicate nature. He also had a profound love for dogs, finding a unique kind of peace in their companionship.
He leaves behind his faithful dog, Jessie, who was a constant source of comfort and friendship. Ben didn’t need to be the loudest person in the room to make an impact; his kindness and his steady, social heart were enough.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of sharing a dance or a coffee with him.
At Ben’s request, cremation has taken place. Memorial Visitation will take place at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME – BANWELL CHAPEL, 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. (519-253-7235) on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 10:00 am until time of Memorial Service at 12:00 pm.
