WIELEMAN, Bartholomeus Wieleman

January 26, 1928 - January 27, 2026
WIELEMAN, Bartholomeus Wieleman

Passed away peacefully at the age of 98 on January 27, 2026, the day after his birthday.

Bart was predeceased by his beloved wife, Anna Wieleman, his parents; Johannes & Geertje Wieleman, and his sister Henny Laird. He is lovingly remembered by his sister Ria Kell; his daughter Anita Fitchett and her husband Murray; his grandchildren Brittany Fitchett (Pete) and Erika Slegers (Anthony); and his cherished great-grandchildren, Mason and Jeremy.

Bart immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of 20, beginning a life shaped by hard work and gratitude. He worked alongside his father helping to build homes in Forest, including his own, and later worked at the Forest Feed Mill.

After 40 years in Forest, Bart and Anna moved to London to spend the next 30 years close to his daughter and grandchildren. In his final year, he lived with his daughter and son-in-law in Mount Brydges, where he was surrounded by love and care.

A devoted family man, Bart found his greatest joy in life’s simple pleasures: going for nice walks, taking trips with his family, and spending quiet moments watching birds from the deck. He also enjoyed playing the accordion, a passion that began in his younger years.

Bart was known for his kind heart, warm smile, and endlessly positive outlook. No matter the situation, he always found the good and encouraged others to do the same. He lived by his favorite saying:
“Life is what you make it — be happy.”

Those who knew Bart will remember him for his sweetness, sense of humour, and the way his smile could brighten a room. His optimism, gratitude, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Bart will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A visitation will be held at Denning’s of Forest, on Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 1:00–2:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow.
