WILCOCK, Gail Elizabeth Wilcock (Walter)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gail Elizabeth Wilcock (nee Walter) on July 7, 2025 at Northumberland Hills Hospital, at the age of 75.
Devoted mother of Laura Wilcock (Ken Daniels), Paul Wilcock (Sarah), and Jennifer McHugh (Bruce). Cherished grandmother of Amy, Katie, Natalie, Meghan, Brooke, Carly, and Leah.
Dear sister of Glen Walter (Marilyn), Anne Spicher (the late Bob), and Johnny Walter (Meliisa). Predeceased by her parents John & Jean Walter.

Born in Oshawa and raised in Courtice, Gail was a creative and multi-talented individual with a love of music and art. She played in the school band, took part in high school sports, and spent her youth as a Girl Guide, where she developed a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors (with the notable exception of frogs!) and made cherished, lifelong friendships. Growing up, she enjoyed many weekends with her family at their cottage on Rice Lake.
A graduate of Courtice Secondary School, Gail went on to attend Teachers’ College in Peterborough, which led to a long and respected career in education. She taught at Gertrude Colpus, Enniskillen, S.T. Worden, and Courtice North Public Schools, spending most of her career teaching Kindergarten. Gail’s classroom was a place of warmth, patience, and encouragement — she made a lasting impact on generations of young learners.
Gail spent much of her life raising her family north of Tyrone, where she was involved with her community. She gave generously of her time as a Girl Guide leader, once again sharing her love of art, nature, and community with young girls.
Her strong faith was central to her life and she often attended services at Tyrone, Hampton, and Gore’s Landing United Churches.
For over 20 years, Gail lived in the home she designed and loved, with its stunning sunrise view over Rice Lake. Retirement gave her time to enjoy the simple pleasures – gardening, cutting her grass, decorating for every season and holiday, playing her piano, playing in the Bell Choir, creating art and travelling. Above all, it was her children, grandchildren, family and friends that truly brought her joy. Her radiant smile, her warm personality, and her genuine heart will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.

Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME (124 King St. E., Oshawa), visitation will take place on Tuesday July 22nd from 6pm until 8pm. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday July 23rd at 12 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to service time, starting at 11am.
